FAQ's

What are the stickers made from?

All our stickers are made from self adhesive vinyl.   The adhesive is a special ‘removable’ type that can be cleanly removed for up to 6 months after application.  The stickers are printed with solvent inks to give a high level of scratch and UV fade resistance.  When applied and removed properly the stickers will not damage your vehicle paintwork.

How do I apply the stickers?

Applying stickers is a simple step by step process.

For smaller 4" stickers just peel back one corner of the backing paper and use the small exposed area of the sticker to tack into the desired postion.   Peel of the remaining backing and gently rub down the remaing sticker in 1/2" strokes -  a credit card or something similar can be used as a squeegee to help in avoiding bubbles and wrinckles - we sell squeegees in the shop for even easier application.

For larger 12", 24" and 36" stickers the above method may be used but the following 'wet' application method is easier, again the squeegees in the shop will give an easier application.

Items required:

•  Cleaning paper roll and general cleaning product.
•  A spray bottle filled with water and a few drop of washing up liquid (note - just 1 or 2 drops).
•  A squeegee

Stickers should only be applied to sound original paintwork or glass, avoid applying stickers to rusty or flaking paintwork.  It is helpful to apply stickers in dry wind free weather.

Step 1
Thoroughly clean and dry the area the stickers are to be applied to.  All grease, dust and dirt should be removed to give a good finish.

Step 2
Decide on the position of the sticker.   Spray the area with a good film of the water / washing up liquid solution.   There must be no dry areas.

Step 3
Place the sticker design side face down onto the wet area so you are looking at the plain backing paper.   The water / soap you have sprayed on will hold the sticker in position.

Step 4
Separate the backing paper from the adhesive sticker in one corner and proceed to carefully remove the entire backing paper exposing the whole adhesive side of the sticker.  For large stickers it helps to have two people completing this step.

Step 5
Spray the exposed adhesive area with a good film of the water / washing up liquid solution.   There must be no dry areas.

Step 6
Carefully turn over the sticker and lay it in place – the film of spray will stop the sticker from initially adhering and will allow you time to gently slide and reposition the sticker in the correct place.  For large stickers it helps to have two people completing this step.

Step 7
Using the squeegee gently squeeze the water and any air bubbles out from beneath the sticker.  Take care not to squeegee too hard and scratch the sticker.  Work from the centre outwards until all water is removed.  Repeat the process a couple of times if necessary to get all of the water and trapped air from underneath the sticker.  Finally wipe away all excess water.

Can I apply stickers over door openings / panel gaps?
Yes, Position the sticker on the car in the desired location and mark on the sticker the line of the opening / gap.  Simply cut the sticker 5mm each side of the marked line and apply each part of the sticker either side of the gap following the regular installation instructions.

How do I remove the stickers?
The adhesive is a special ‘removable’ type that can be cleanly removed for up to 6 months after application.

Simply peel up one corner of the sticker and proceed to gently peel the whole sticker off at a 45 degree angle.

It is easier to remove stickers on a mild or warm day.  On very cold days it is helpful to gently warm the sticker with a hair dryer.

What are the banners made from?
All our banners are made from strong heavy weight PVC material with a matt finish.  The banners are printed with solvent inks to give a high level of scratch and UV fade resistance.  We fit strong brass eyelets at 2ft intervals around the banner perimeter for easy hanging.

What is the best way to install a banner?
The most popular way is to fix them with screws and a penny washer for each eyelet.  Another way is to use electrical cable ties for quick fixing to posts and railings.  Banners will last longer if installed flat and fairly tight to ensure they do not flap in the wind.

Can you make any other sticker and banner designs?
Yes, we can make any design in any size of sticker or banner.  Please contact our parent company Poppy Signs Ltd for more information, www.poppysigns.co.uk, 01257 241222
